Terrelle Pryor chose Ohio State because that's where he can become the best passer
The Dayton Daily News’ Brian Kollars recently chimed in on Terrelle Pryor during the aftermath of Pryor’s decision to attend Ohio State. His theory was that Pryor opted to go to school in Columbus because he felt that was the best place he could grow as a passer. Below is an excerpt from the piece:
“On paper, it seems that Michigan would've been the better fit for ballyhooed high school quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Spread offense and all. Instead, the Pennsylvania teen picked THE OSU, even apologized to a Detroit reporter who made the long drive for last week's big announcement.
My theory is this: Pryor doesn't like the comparisons to Vince Young, perhaps the best college combo QB of our time. Pryor wants to be known as a passer, and running Rich Rodriguez's spread offense includes some serious running. OSU no doubt held up Troy Smith as an example of what they can do with talent. That's a pretty good selling point.”
